Boy Scouts
Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship Program
Congratulations on becoming an Eagle Scout!
The SAR National Eagle Scout Scholarship Program is based upon a calendar year. Applications for each year are due, to me, in December and are not accepted after December 31. Applicants should wait until that time to build up their point count. Applications received after that date are applied to the following year, if the applicant still meets the age requirements. Applications are valid during the year of the Eagle Scouts 18th birthday. After December 31, applications that have been received, for the scholarship, are judged by the Chapter and sent on to the State for further consideration. After the State judging, the State Winner is sent on to National for further consideration. There is a rapid time-line for all of this, hence the absolute cut-off date.
Information on the scholarship, the application, genealogical chart and requirements for the essay are on the national website at www.sar.org under the YOUTH tab. Contact information for me as State Eagle Scout Scholarship Chairman can be found on our state website at www.ess-sar.org. Contact information for me as the Chapter Eagle Scout Schoarship Chairman can be found on our Chapter website at www.longislandchaptersar.org
Fill out the application COMPLETELY.
If you do not reach the age of 19 during the year 2018, we would welcome your application. Please be aware that earning the following merit badges are very important in the grading of the applications:
AMERICAN HERITAGE, GENEALOGY, LAW
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
